Brief Synopsis

When Nicholas II unexpectedly ascends to the Russian throne, he vows to preserve the absolute authority he believes God has entrusted to him. At his side, Alexandra grows increasingly convinced that divine intervention will safeguard their dynasty.

Yet, the birth of their long-awaited son, Alexei, brings a devastating secret. As Alexandra turns to mysticism for salvation, Nicholas resists calls for reform even as war with Japan, Bloody Sunday, and the mounting catastrophe of World War I weaken the empire.

Public distrust erodes the foundations of their rule, and revolution sweeps across Russia. Retreating deeper into faith and family, Nicholas and Alexandra watch their world close in from imperial palaces to guarded captivity. Stripped of power but not conviction, they cling to love and destiny until the tide of history sweeps them away into time.
